The Cheetah C100 GPS Antenna accessory, part number CH09GPSMA02, is for vehicles with athermic windshields with metal films that affect GPS antenna satellite reception. Some windshields include a metal tint Titanium Oxide, TiO2, which is a transparent coating to reduce the transmission of incident light energy; thus reducing cockpit heat inside the car during the summer. The transparent coating has the capacity of screening the sun radiation, but also affects a radar detector, GPS product or Photo detector using GPS satellite links. This metal film creates a significant loss in radar detection range. If you find your C100 Photo detector is being affected by a windshield metal film, you will find the C100 frequently loses the satellite link.
