Speed Camera Detectors are becoming the new requirement to defeat speed camera traps and red light camras. The Cheetah C50 is not just directional, it’s multi-directional. It can give different alerts when you approach a location from different directions. For example, red light camera intersections often have warning signs placed on all 4 approaches, but the speed cameras will usually only ticket drivers in 1 or 2 of the directions.
In User Mode 1, the speed camera detector will alert to the intersection from all directions, but where it knows which directions are genuinely being covered, it will give different voice alerts for the "enforced" and the “non-enforced” directions so that you know which directions give out tickets and which ones don’t. Pressing a button to change the C50 into User Mode 2 or Mode 3, switches off the alerts for these “non-enforced” approaches so that the speed camera detector only alerts to the genuine ticket directions. That makes the Cheetah C50 much quieter to use in cities with lots of enforcement cameras. At "Speed-on-Green" red light camera locations, the speed camera detector will tell you it’s different from a normal red light camera, so you won’t try to speed up and beat the yellow. It will tell you the speed limit and can even let you know if there are different posted speed limits being enforced on each of the approach roads. That is critical information in Speed-on-Green areas. It will also use SpeedTone Intelligence beeps to remind you to slow down if you are going too fast, and the beeps stop as soon as you drop below the PSL.

If you forget to download new speed cameras for a while, the speed camera detectors will remind you as part of the start-up sequence when it's been longer than one month since your last update.
