Performance

The Valentine 1 Remote Radar Detector is the best, remote radar detector available today.

• The V1 Remote can detect the Ka radar band, the most used radar band today, at 10 miles when installed at the correct exterior location on the vehicle. The sensitivity is superb to detect weak signals from hidden "over the hill" radar traps and hidden "around the curve" radar traps. Average radar detectors do not provide this level of sensitivity.
  
  The V1 is excellent at filtering out false noise alerts.
• Radar - During our road testing of the V1 Remote, we logged a typical 10 mile distance detection of Ka radar. This is Very good and some of the best detection sensitivity.
  
  False alerts were minimized by turning off X band radar detection, but we also discovered that some police are resorting back to X band radar, knowing that many drivers turn X band off. We suggest that you drive with X band on, just in case.
  
  The V1 Remote is the only radar detector to offer Dual Band K and Ka POP3 alerts. We noted some POP3 alerts in our road tests, a very fast, (67millisecond) burst radar pulse. This type of signal leaves very little time for detection, but the Val1 does it very well with few false alerts. The high radar detection sensitivity of the Valentine 1. We recommend POP3 to be turned on and Highway X to be turned off. This permits fewer false noise alerts and allows the superb detection sensitivity to be used for your protection.
• Laser - During our test, we encountered a few laser alerts from police. The V1 Remote is typically installed in the grille, where it can detect laser quite well. But if installed on top of the vehicle, the V1 will not detect laser. But detecting laser is no good to the driver, since, if you detect the laser beam, it is only telling you that the laser gun already has your speed. Speed Measurement Labs has confirmed the Valentine One has been confirmed the best in performance of laser detection from the windshield. But detecting laser by itself is not sufficient, since detecting laser only tells you that the police aimed the very narrow light beam at your vehicle, you detected it and they have your speed.
  
  Detecting laser is not sufficient, as you must detect laser and jam it in order to protect yourself from police laser guns. We also found false laser alerts with no police anywhere nearby. The false laser alerts are caused by bright, repetitive reflections off the white painted road stripes at the center of the highway. It is also caused by bright reflections off the metal side rails along side the highway. This false noise does not occur very often and is caused by bright light reflections at a particular frequency.
  
  In our opinion, it is a waste of time to detect laser with a radar detector. If you want real laser protection, buy the M25 Laser Jammer or Blinder M45 and install the products into the grille, where the police aim laser guns.
