Order V1D221K if you ordered or own a V1 Remote radar detector and you want to operate Cruise Control and display Valentine 1 radar detector alerts on the instrument cluster panel of the Mercedes S Class or Mercedes CL Class for model Years 2008 and 2007 with optional Distronic Plus parking assistance and proximity warnings. The V1D221K permits cruise control when the V1 radar detector is turned on. It utilizes the vehicle CAN network to send and receive data allowing the Valentine One radar detector to display radar data on the cluster panel. REQUIRES OPTIONAL V1 REMOTE or VALENTINE 1 UPGRADE to V1 REMOTE. The Mercedes Distronic Plus system provides two functions to the driver. Distronic Plus functions use K-Band radar to measure distance to allow the vehicle to sense when other vehicles or obstructions are nearby. It supports Mercedes Parking Assistance feature that provides proximity warnings when parking the Mercedes and backing it up. The V1D221K is designed to allow Mercedes S Class and CL Class vehicles with Distronic Plus to use a V1 radar detector installed, and minimize K band alerts from the Distronic Plus K band components. V1D221K module provides a display of warnings on the Mercedes instrument cluster when the Valentine One unit has an X band, K band or Ka band radar alert alert, eliminating the need to cut or drill warning LED's into the Mercedes instrument panel. The V1D221K is designed to allow Mercedes S Class and C Class vehicles equipped with Distronic Plus (Parking Assistance) to operate with a Valentine One radar detector. It will display all alerts on the Mercedes instrument cluster. One of the V1D221K advantages is that installation time is reduced because wires do not have to be run to the front and rear Mercedes Distronic Plus modules. The other advantage is that Distronic Plus is not interrupted, thus cruise control will work as normal at all times. The only disadvantage is that the Valentine One’s range for K-band is decreased due to filtering out of the low amplitude K-band signals emitted by the Distronic Plus. This reduced K band affect has not received any negative customer feedback on reduced K band warning time.
