V1D221 Valentine 1 Distronic Interface Product Details

The basic operation of the V1D221 Distronic Plus interface is for using Valentine 1 or Valentine 1 Remote radar detectors in the Mercedes S-Class, S600, years 2007 and 2008 models. USA, Canada, European and Asian radar frequencies are supported.

The interface module is activated when the Valentine One unit is turned on using the remote knob. The interface unit displays alert messages transposed over the 'audio' messages on the driver instrument cluster. Therefore the instrument cluster display must be set to 'Audio' mode for the messages to be visible. This is done by pressing the left/right steering wheel buttons until 'Audio' is displayed. When the detector is powered on via the remote control the message 'Valentine One' is displayed after approximately 5 seconds. The Valentine One detector is controlled based on the vehicle speed: Below approximately 27 mph the Radar Sensors are enabled and the Valentine 1 remote audio speaker is muted. Above 27 mph the Radar Sensors are switched off, Distronic cruise is disabled, and the speaker is switched on. The instrument cluster will also display a message 'Radar On' to indicate that the Radar Detector is now active and alert messages will now be displayed. If the detector has an alert event the speaker will play the audible warning (unless muting is selected) and an appropriate message will display on the instrument cluster: 'ALERT', ‘Front’, ‘Rear’, or ‘Side’, ‘X’, ‘K’, ‘Ka’, or ‘Laser’, and a signal strength reading . If the Valentine1 radar detector is turned off using the remote knob then no alerts will display and the Distronic Cruise will be fully functional.
