The V1D221 utilizes the vehicle CAN network to send and receive data allowing the Valentine One radar detector to display radar data on the cluster panel. The Mercedes Distronic Plus system provides two functions to the driver. Distronic Plus functions using several K-Band radar distance measurements to allow the vehicle to sense when other vehicles or obstructions are nearby. It also supports Mercedes Parking Assist feature that provides proximity warning when parking and backing up. The V1D221 is designed to allow Mercedes S Class and C Class vehicles with Distronic Plus to use a V1 radar detector installed, and minimize K band alerts from the Distronic Plus K band components. V1D221 module provides a display of warnings on the Mercedes instrument cluster when the Valentine One unit has an X band, K band or Ka band radar alert alert, eliminating the need to cut or drill warning LED's into the Mercedes instrument panel. V1D221 allows for all Valentine 1 warnings to be displayed through the Mercedes instrument cluster. It works by shutting down the Mercedes Distronic Plus at 27mph, enabling the Valentine One radar detector to go online. When above 27mph the Mercedes Cruise Control as well as Distronic Plus will be disabled until the vehicle has slowed down to 27mph. Only then will Distronic Plus be enabled and allow Park Assist to work. Normal Distronic Plus and Cruise Control functions can be used only when the Valentine One is turned off.
