This is the last leg of the race from Las Vegas through Death Valley into Palmdale, North of LA
The Austrian Police pulled us over. We thought the Autobahn in Austria was the same rules as in Germany... Fast and Faster!!
Team Torquenstein and Team Polizei (Alex Roy) parked at the finish line of Gumball3000. Sitting back, eating cheese, drinking wine...Yea Baby!!!
This is a short log entry from Torquenstein.

Sorry for the lack of email... It has been VERY hectic this last week.. Not much time for communications nor sleep...

It was nice that Tiger Lily Products met us in Las Vegas. They took pictures and videos of our First Place entry into Las Vegas. If you did not hear, Team Torquenstein and Team Polizei (Alex Roy) crossed the finish line first. It was a battle to the end, and so we both decided to pull our two teams together.

We received NO speeding tickets, where we were clocked. I did get pulled over once in UTAH because a lady in a mini van called 911 saying we flashed our high beams at her and passed her. She said we were doing 80 but I disagree as it was congested rush hour traffic. So I got a ticket for "general speeding" since it was her word against ours. During the last USA leg on Sunday (Vegas to LA) we got upto 140+, on a test track of course. Our route took us through Death Valley. We met one highway patrol officer, who tried several times to gun us from about a mile back. It was a waste of his time. Some of the Rally Racers completely skipped the midway Death Valley checkpoint by taking Interstate 15 straight into LA. We beat these guys anyway! We had three helocopters following us for the first half of the route from Salt Lake City to Las Vegas. One of the copters helped out as our Eye in the Sky checking for bears.

In Europe, we got hit many times by laser. No laser based speeding tickets. The M40 and M20 Laser jammers were superb, and well hidden by Tiger Lily Products installation team prior to the start of the race.

We did get a ticket from KA radar in Belgium. Our Radar Detectors detected, but it was instant on up close, so there was very little warning. The police were up ahead with spikes in the road and a trailer set up to record all of the Rally racer's speeds. The Belgium Police pulled us over and looked at the front end for items, but we left our high beems on and they did not see anything as they were "blinded by the light". If they would have known or spotted the laser jammers our car would have been impounded. They also questioned the VF2 Photo Radar Jammer. We told them it was just our license plate light, as that is what it is designed to look like. No Problems!

We got another speeding ticket in Germany, as we were paced by an under cover German police car. We got pulled over a second time in Germany for a document check. Then we got pulled over in Austria, as we were paced again by another unmarked police car... We thought in Austria it was still the German Autobahn highway rules. FAST and FASTER. The Autobahn in Germany is sweetness. It is safe and the drivers in Germany move to the right for fast traffic coming from the left.

The Austrian Police saw the Tork mask and nearly put us in jail. The picture to the right is from the Austria police stop. They have absolutely no "Sense of Humour"!! The Serbian Police love laser because it is a pointing device. They prefer to hide behind bridges with their laser guns.

I also don't know why, but the Valentine One seemed to do better than the STI Driver. I think because the beeps are quicker and more distinctive and the arrows for direction are very nice...Will have to test them out some more I think. I wonder what the Valentine One Remote would be like, totally hidden from view. But what a performance test for these two products on the Torquenstein GT40. Team Torquenstein dominated the USA leg.

So, over all I think we faired VERY well... We handled the European leg with flying colors; 8th position in Thailand; First to Las Vegas, 2nd in Furnace Creek (Death Valley checkpoint) and of course 1st to the Gumball 3000 finish line on Rodeo Drive with Team Polizei.

I will stop by your shop, so you can take more videos &
pictures. I am also going to start importing some of our 30 to 40 hours of video this weekend. We have footage of us getting hit by Ka radar in Death Valley by the CHP (California Highway Patrol), plus we should have footage of getting hit by laser multiple times in Serbia. It would be good to let customers see how your Blinder M40, M20 and Valentine One work in action against real radar and laser situations.

Another item I forgot to mention, is that we used our CB radio extensively on the Utah to Vegas leg. And we had helicopters flying overhead too. Eyes in the Sky. WE RECEIVED A LOT OF HELP FROM TRUCKERS AND AVOIDED TWO MAJOR SPEED TRAPS. Thank you, Truckers!!!!

Thanks, Torquenstein & Dr. Gruene
