VF2 Photo Radar test results: Europe, HK, USA

Jan 01, 2006 - NIWOT, CO -
Photo #1: VF2 protecting the license plate of a this Viper.
Photo #2: Top image is a camera image without the VF2 Euro turned on. The bottom image is the camera image protected by the VF2 Euro.
Photo #3: When digital camera operators try to use the "inverse video" function to get your license plate information, our photo jammer defeats it. When they try to extract the license plate information using "Inverse Video", they get a black image. No Ticket in the Mail.
Photo #4: Top image is a camera image without the VF2 HK turned on. The bottom image is the camera image protected by the VF2 HK.
Photo #5: The above picture shows the two typical methods by which a phto radar trap is implemented. A shows a trap that photographs the back of your vehicle from the rear as you drive by. B shows a trap that photographs the front of your car as you appraoch the speed camera trap. UPDATE: The new SCD Photo Jammer supports photo radar by alerting to photo speed traps produced by Gatso, Multanova and Redflex - and preventing the speed cameras from acquiring data on the license plate.

The previous VF2 photo product produced by GSG in Canada in 2006 called VF2 photo jammer was tested by Speed Measurement Labs during the latter part of June 2004 in El Paso Texas. Man, was it hot down there. Carl Fors tested the VF2 product in a variety of situations that photo cameras target vehicles. Photo cameras are positioned about 22 degrees off the side of the road. sometimes to the left side or right, sometimes in the front or the rear. Some photo speed traps are mobile vans, moving from day to day to different locations through out the city and suburbs. Most photo speed traps are fixed locations with a camera and radar or laser speed acquisition contained in a water proof box, generally about 10-12 feet in the air. These fixed speed traps are positioned to take a picture of the front of the vehicle as it drives towards the camera location; or may be positioned to take a picture of the back of the vehicle, as it drives past the camera location. So we had to test the VF2 under a variety of conditions. Daytime desert conditions are the hardest to defeat, due to the bright background light conditions, so we focused in this area of testing. We tested close up at 4 feet, at distance of 30 feet away and 10 feet up in the air, we tested left and right of the plate, front and rear of the vehicle to get nearly every circumstance in a photo speed trap. The result was 100% jamming of the camera's attempt to get the license plate image. Notice the large truck image above. The license plate was whited out when the camera took the picture of the truck, which had a Prowler Remote System installed with front/rear Remote RX75 radar detectors installed, front/rear Blinder X-Treme laser jamming and front/rear VF2 Photo Radar Jammers installed. We also recently tested the VF2 and VF2 Euro for USA performance results for Hong Kong, Macau, Europe and USA. Take a look at the side bar images and check out the before/after results. The VF2 is now offered by Blinder X-Treme, Radar Busters and dealers in Greece, Australia and Hong Kong. South Africa and Israel may soon offer the VF2 also. If you wish to review the product, click on Photo Radar Jammers on this web site, call Jamie Whinser at 720-298-0557 or email at Sales@1stRadarDetectors.com. Photo #1: The VF2 is shown above defeating a digital camera at Speed Measurement Labs, 2005 in El Paso Texas. The Viper was brought to the test by Veil Corp., Blinder X-Treme and Radar Busters. Rosa and Nadia, SML Radar Girls, thought that the VF2 was quite beautiful in operation. Notice the USA license plate was whited out from the camera by the VF2. Both Blinder X-Treme and Radar Busters now carry the VF2 and VF1 Photo Radar Jammer. Photo #2: Top image is a camera image without the VF2 Euro turned on. The bottom image is the camera image protected by the VF2 Euro. There is no way that a photo ticket can be sent to a European driver using a VF2 Euro Photo Radar Jammer. Wide plates are used in Europe, Japan, some places in Australia and some places in Hong Kong. HK and Australia use two types of license plates, wide and narrow. Photo #3: What if the operators of the digital photo radar system try to use inverse video to bring out the letters and numbers on your license plate? The photo speed trap flashes your plate with white light or infrared, acquires an image, and stores the images to hard drive or emails it immediately to a central processing center. If the driver was using photo sprays, license plate covers or flash back jammers, the digital operator presses an INVERSE VIDEO button, which easily defeats photo sprays such as Photo Blocker, license plate covers and flashback jammers by bringing out the hidden characters. But the above image shows what happens when they use inverse video on a VF1 or VF2 protected license plate. Top image is a license plate without VF2 protection and with inverse video turned on. The bottom image is the license plate image protected by the VF2 when they attempt to use inverse video. The VF1, VF2 & VF2 Euro turns the plates a true white. And when the digital camera operator tries to use inverse video to extract the license plate information, the VF2 causes the image to turn black on their computer. The inverse of white is black as this image shows. If you want true photo speed trap protection, only the VF1 and VF2 products can jam the photo trap and then completely prevent digital inverse video from pulling the characters out of the jammed imaged. Photo #4: We tested a Hong Kong license plate on the bench to see how the VF2 protected the HK plates, which are 3" deeper and harder to protect. But the VF2 dis an excellent job as you can see. The top picture is the original (modified characters to protect the innocent), and the bottom image shows the VF2 protection across the HK plate. So, what do you Guys and Girls in HK and Macau think about the VF2? Good, or what? Some plates in HK are the wide plates similar to European plates. The VF2 Euro Photo Jammer discussed shows the performance you can expect on the VF2 Euro products. Sales@1stRadarDetectors.com
