The Global Position System (GPS) system is made up of 24 orbiting satellites, developed by the US military, which constantly provide GPS location. Most of the satellites are visible to the Escort Passport 9500ix during the day or night. The Escort 9500ix radar detector is designed to receive this GPS coordinate data downlink when turned on. The data includes an accurate distance to the closest satellite from your GPS location, which permits the SirfStar GPS chip to identify your exact location as you drive.
