The Global Position System system (GPS) is made up of 24 orbiting satellites, developed by the US military. Many of these satellites are visible to the Escort Passport 9500i at any time of the day. The Escort 9500i radar detector is designed to receive this GPS coordinate data downlink when turned on. The data includes an accurate distance to the satellite from your GPS position, which permits the SirfStar GPS chip to calculate and pinpoint your exact location as you drive.
