Compare passive scrambling with active jamming. An active radar jammer detects the radar gun frequency, determines the radar gun frequency, and returns a radar jamming signal that causes the radar gun display to go completely blank. But both of these products are illegal and FCC does not appreciate the use of either; ie, you will get a fine.
What About Laser Scrambling?
Some of the scrambler manufacturers claim to jam radar only, such as the Phazer II and Mirage 2001. The C430 and C450 passive scrambler products also claim to scramble laser, as well as detect radar and laser. How do the passive scramblers protect your speed from a laser gun?
The #1 rated Blinder M20 Laser Jammer provides 16 infrared light emitting diodes. The Blinder detects the laser signal, analyzes the pulse repetition frequency, determines which laser gun is attacking, then selects a jamming signal to be transmitted back to that specific model of laser gun, causing the laser gun to go blank. Passive Scramblers typically provide 2 light emitting diodes that constantly emit infrared light, supporting the passive claim to scramble laser guns.
New laser guns are designed with digital signal processing (DSP), permitting the laser gun to filter out background noise and enable the laser gun to selectively analyze laser signals, which only the laser gun transmitted. How then can a passive scrambler defeat a laser gun with a constant noise signal, when DSP laser guns have the capability to filter this noise out? How can a passive laser scrambler with two infrared LEDs provide better jamming performance than an active laser jammer with 16 infrared light emitting diodes that transmit back an identical laser signal filled with noise? How can a passive laser scrambler detect and jam laser in the windshield, when police aim their very narrow laser beam down on the license plate? Passive laser scrambling is no where near level of performance provided by an active laser jammer.
Passive Makers Focus on Marketing & Advertising
Passive Scrambler companies focus on marketing and advertising. There are always distributors and dealers who will sell products to the public, whether the product meets its claims or not. If it sounds too good to be true... need we say more?
It is much harder to find dealers and distributors; who demand the products they offer to their customers, are certified for performance by well recognized test companies.
